 Corn Dogs

Ingredients:

1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
pinch black pepper
1 egg
1 cup milk
8-10 hot dog sausages
Oil to deep fry 
* wooden skewers


Method:

  1. Skewer all hot dog sausages with a wooden skewer. Set aside. (sausages can be cut to make mini corn dogs) 
  2. In a large bowl mix together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt & black pepper.
  3. Add milk and egg. Mix till just combined.
  4. In a large pot, heat oil to med-high heat. 
  5. Pour batter into a large glass for easy dipping. 
  6. Stick hot dog on skewer into glass fully coating sausage in the batter and let excess drip off.
  7. Fry for 3-5 minutes, turning frequently so all sides get cooked properly. 
  8. Serve and enjoy with ketchup or honey mustard! 
  9. Once cooled, can also be frozen for an easy snack at another date. (re-heat in toaster oven or air fryer for best results)
