Corn Dogs
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
pinch black pepper
1 egg
1 cup milk
8-10 hot dog sausages
Oil to deep fry
* wooden skewers
Method:
- Skewer all hot dog sausages with a wooden skewer. Set aside. (sausages can be cut to make mini corn dogs)
- In a large bowl mix together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt & black pepper.
- Add milk and egg. Mix till just combined.
- In a large pot, heat oil to med-high heat.
- Pour batter into a large glass for easy dipping.
- Stick hot dog on skewer into glass fully coating sausage in the batter and let excess drip off.
- Fry for 3-5 minutes, turning frequently so all sides get cooked properly.
- Serve and enjoy with ketchup or honey mustard!
- Once cooled, can also be frozen for an easy snack at another date. (re-heat in toaster oven or air fryer for best results)
